The Leasing Community Gets Together at the Rio Carnival.

Organised by the Leasing Association of Sri Lanka, the leasing association celebrated their get together recently at the Taj Samudra. Under the theme “Rio carnival”, the get-together was a platform for those in the industry to connect with their peers and interact with each other.

The event saw the participation of the non-banking leasing and finance companies. “We are competing in the field, but this particular event was for everyone to interact and develop and improve the network and connections,” said the Chairman of the Leasing Association- Mr Ananda Seneviratne, who went on to commend the competitive spirit displayed by the leasing community, which benefits the customers, and allows companies to develop the best practices. “It was a very fruitful and successful event,” he said, and revealed that the Association will continue the get-together as an annual event.

The event also provided a platform for other stakeholders such as insurance companies, courier services and equipment providers to connect with the leasing companies in a non-formal setting.
Mr Seneviratne commended the 9 board members, selected from different leasing companies, who united together to ensure the success of the event. Mr Seneviratne expressed his gratitude to Ashan Nissanka, the board member responsible for organising the event. “He and his team did a superb job,” Seneviratne stated.

“All the senior members of the companies took part in this event,” said Seneviratne. The event saw the attendance of two pioneers in the leasing industry, Mr C. P. De Silva and Dr Dilanjan Soysa.

Best practices were in the Association’s objectives, and the Chairman stated that best practices that the industry now enjoys are the labours of Mr De Siva, Dr Sousa and their associate, Mr Kumarage.

True to the theme of the event, the get together was carried out with flare, and style and produced the atmosphere of a carnival, so that the participants could unwind and create connections.The Association seeks to create best practices across the industry, and is working with the valuers to introduce best practices for valuers as well. “We are trying to ensure that the industry is clean,” said Seneviratne, explaining the role of the Association.

He also spoke about the future of the leasing industry and stated that diversification is the next step for the industry in the future.
